The moderate growth spurt also involves the load compartment. The sporty rear of the new C-Class Estate provides a maximum load capacity of 1510 litres/53 cu ft (according to ISO 3832). Variability and consequently functionality also increased significantly. The rear seats now have a 40 : 20 : 40 split instead of the 60 : 40 split in the predecessor. This opens up a wide range of possibilities to use the interior as five-seater, four-seater, three-seater or two-seater version by folding forward the split rear seat bench.Mercedes-Benz C 200 BlueTEC, T-Modell (S 205) 2014

Practical details ensure that the load compartment is even more versatile and easier to use, and as a result it can be conveniently tailored to the individual transport tasks. The electric unlocking of the rear seat backrests at the push of a button provides a flat, larger load compartment where necessary using the Singlefold function for the rear seat backrest. The switches for the electric backrest unlocking on the D-pillar are finished in silver shadow.

Four load-securing rings in the load compartment floor ensure the cargo is stowed securely. Side recesses between the wheel arch and tail lamp also provide stowage space. To protect the cargo an integrated combined luggage compartment cover and retaining net which is firmly attached to the bodyshell can be pulled upwards over the load and the safety net.Mercedes-Benz C-Class T-Modell C 300 BlueTEC HYBRID (S 205) 2014

The loading convenience of the new C-Class Estate can optionally be further enhanced with the EASY-PACK tailgate and the likewise optional HANDS-FREE ACCESS system. It allows opening and closing the tailgate without touching it. All it takes is a motion of the foot in the area of the rear bumper. Mercedes-Benz has also revised and optimised the stowage compartment concept. Compared with the predecessor the volume of the available stowage facilities has increased from 20.5 litres to 23.9 litres on vehicles with a manual transmission. Automatic models even offer a stowage capacity of 33.5 litres, which is thanks to a distinctive centre console.
