Some 63,089 readers of the trade magazine OFF ROAD cast their votes, and for the eleventh time now the G-Class has again demonstrated its effortless superiority by securing first place in the “Luxury off-road vehicle” category. In the guise of the G 63 AMG 6×6, it also came out on top in the “Off-road tuning” category. In the “Special-purpose vehicles” category, the multitalented Unimog found itself at the top of the winners’ podium. This vote of confidence by readers underscores the exceptional position which the Mercedes-Benz premium brand enjoys among all-wheel drive vehicles.
The star among off-road vehicles has been rolling off the assembly line for some 35 years now without a break, and has enjoyed a long-established status as an off-road icon. The fact that the G-Class is still up-to-date in every respect even today is down to its constant systematic enhancement. As a result the latest generation of the G-Class impresses with advanced drive system technology and top-class interior appointments. At the same time it still retains its typical, much-valued original virtues, such as its extreme robustness and outstanding off-road characteristics. It therefore rightly deserves being named “Off-road vehicle of the year,” a title for which this year marks the eleventh time it has received the award.
With 6×6 all-wheel drive technology, an output of 400 kW (544 hp), special suspension and an appearance which demands respect from the very first glance, the Mercedes-Benz G 63 AMG 6×6 secured victory in the “Off-road tuning” category. The powerful off-roader is not only the ultimate vehicle when it comes to heading off the beaten track, but thanks to its refined, high-quality interior it also provides outstanding comfort.
In the “Special-purpose vehicles” category, the Mercedes-Benz Unimog once again found itself way out in front. Offering superior off-road capabilities and maximum robustness, it is the ideal vehicle for transporting loads and goods in remote locations and also forms an excellent basis for special-purpose bodies.
